About Us

The club is situated at 69 Leigh Road, just a short walk away from Chalkwell Park and Leigh Broadway. Open 7 days a week (during normal licensing hours), there is  a good selection of wines, spirits and beer  including ‘Guinness’ of course, as well as soft drinks, tea and coffee.

The Iveagh Club came into being in 1963. Fittingly, as a social club, the name has a direct association with a world-famous tipple.

Paul Channon, who was Southend West’s Conservative MP at the time, was the only son of Sir Henry ‘Chips’ Channon and Lady Honor Channon, who in turn was the eldest daughter of Rupert Guinness, the 2nd Earl of Iveagh.

As Michael Caine might say “not a lot of people know that!”

Members can enjoy darts (social and league ), dominoes, cards or simply relax with a drink in friendly surroundings. Watch the big games on BT sport or enjoy a light refreshment including a variety of fresh sandwiches.

There is a varied programme of events with live musical entertainment at least once a month, frequent fish and chip suppers and the occasional quiz night and bingo session.

Karen our entertainments supreme can always be relied upon to devise something appropriate for special occasions like Valentine's Day, St Georges Day, Beaujolais Nouveau Day, Halloween, Birthdays, Private Events and of course Christmas and New Year Celebrations.
